Finally.
The first issue of the Harvest Foodservice Journal newsletter is here, available for download. Please download a copy. In this inaugural issue:
• A Chicago restaurateur takes on the composting conundrum by building what’s been lacking: $28 million worth of infrastructure.
• “Speed dating” for chefs and growers? Not for the romance, but for the connections.
• The Perennial Plate: A Minneapolis chef-turned-documentary filmmaker takes his online phenomenon on a nation-wide road trip. Who is this guy?
• “Farm-to-school” is the catchy, easy phrase. But the logistical effort is huge. Follow one school district’s effort to get fresh, locally-grown tomatoes on the menu.
• The Good Earth: A decades-old natural foods concept asks to the healthy-organic-natural-local foods trend: “What took you so long?”
• A note from the editor: Harvest, an introduction.
We need people to download their own copies. Why? Because our publishing model relies on us counting the number of downloads.
Don’t fret, we don’t track you, or capture any information. We just need to know that people are downloading an issue, much like in the old days, when a publishing company counted how many newspapers were taken from the stack at the newsstand. We’ve come so far with technology, and yet it still gets back to that simple premise.
So, please download a copy. Print it out for yourself if you like. But please pass along the link. And contact me with your thoughts on how this method works for you. We’re still a work in progress, with plenty of room to grow.

Nice Job Mike!
Alright, Mike. It’s downloading fine now, and there is stuff about me in there. How can you possibly expect to attract any readers with that? That aside, you chose some great content that should be of interest to everyone. That is, except for that stuff about me. Good luck and congratulations!
Lenny
How about Harvest KC.
We will travel, Venne.
Cool stuff, Mike ~ will look forward to reading with the same religious zeal as I do Foodservice News. Well, perhaps a zeal bordering on religion would be more appropriate. There’s genuflection, all the same.
Hey Mike! Nice job!
